TABLE_C_1 array at the top of the page script to enable occupancy lookup.
Occupancy lookup Type any part of an occupancy or description (Table C-1).
Browse Appendix C Table C-1 (non-manufacturing) and Table C-2 (manufacturing). Click a row to load it above.

Table 2.3.1.10 — Sprinkler Design Demands for Hazard Categories
Values shown as density/area = (gpm/ft²)/ft² [(mm/min)/m²].
How to use
- Lookup: Type any keyword from the occupancy name or description in the search box. The first matching entries appear as suggestions; click one to see its HC and the corresponding design criteria from Table 2.3.1.10.
- Browse: Use the HC filter chips and the row-filter box to narrow the full Table C-1 list. Click any row to load it into the lookup result panel above.
- HC definitions: Table 2.2.2 gives the qualitative description of each Hazard Category. Table 2.3.1.10 gives the corresponding sprinkler system design criteria (density, area, duration, hose stream allowance) used for protection sizing.
Scope
FMDS 3-26 (April 2025) addresses fire protection water demand for nonstorage sprinklered occupancies. Storage occupancies are covered by separate FM Global data sheets (e.g., FMDS 8-9, 8-29, 7-29) and are out of scope for this tool. Verify applicability of FMDS 3-26 to the specific occupancy before relying on the HC.
Engineering aid only. This tool is a convenience interface to the FMDS 3-26 (April 2025) classification tables. It does not replace the source document and is not a substitute for independent review by a qualified fire protection engineer. The user is responsible for verifying the occupancy match, the HC assignment, the design criteria, and any applicable footnotes, exceptions, or commodity/process-specific data sheets.
